A real board we installed

Why RCBOs beat a split-load board

On an older split-load board one earth fault takes out half the house. With an RCBO per circuit the fault is isolated to that circuit alone — the freezer keeps running, the lights stay on, and finding the problem takes minutes instead of an afternoon.

What's included

The full scope of work

Everything we cover as standard — no hidden extras, no surprises after the quote is signed.

Pre-change testing

Every existing circuit tested before we quote, so faults are found before the board comes off the wall.

New metal consumer unit

Non-combustible enclosure with correctly rated main switch and circuit protection.

RCBO protection

Individual RCBO per circuit, so a fault on one circuit doesn't take out the rest of the property.

Surge protection

Type 2 SPD fitted to protect sensitive appliances, controls and EV charging equipment.

Bonding & earthing

Main protective bonding to gas and water verified and upgraded to the correct size.

Certificate & labelling

Clear circuit schedule, Electrical Installation Certificate and building control notification.

Our approach

How a board change runs

  1. 1

    Inspection & test

We test the existing circuits and check bonding, earthing and supply arrangement before quoting.

  2. 2

    Fixed written quote

Board specification, any remedial work found, and the price — agreed before we book the date.

  3. 3

    Change day

Supply off for a few hours, new board installed, circuits reconnected, identified and labelled.

  4. 4

    Test & certify

Full testing on every circuit, certificate issued and the work notified under Part P.
